Two of my book stands with books, of course. And a few pictures of me and my children, and me and my nieces. My mother’s senior picture (b/w, third shelf on the left), taken in 1960 is very special to me. She was hot. The book with the torn binding on the top-right shelf was my grandfather’s Baptist Standard Hymnal. He had more than one. I grabbed the well-used copy. The amber-colored dish in which I keep all of my bookmarks was one of my grandmother’s candy dishes. The mask is from my trip to The Gambia, West Africa in 2011. The family statuette was a housewarming gift from my mother in 1997.
Writing this has evoked some feelings and some memories. Life and love.
love the stories behind the shelves. thanks, angimia!
